David Munns is a dual-registered Adult Nurse and Mental Health Nurse with 40 years of healthcare experience across the United Kingdom and United States. He currently practises as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health HIV at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, providing specialist assessment and clinical care for patients referred from HIV/AIDS services with complex mental health concerns.

David has extensive expertise across mental health nursing, HIV/AIDS care, liaison psychiatry, older adult mental health and the assessment and management of acute functional and organic mental health disorders. His specialist practice includes consideration of mental health comorbidities in people living with HIV and issues surrounding adherence to antiretroviral therapy.

His clinical expertise is complemented by an academic background in Medical Ethics and Law and Health Care Law and Ethics, providing additional knowledge of medical ethics, human rights, healthcare law and mental capacity. David has also contributed to clinical governance initiatives, co-authored national HIV nursing care models and presented internationally on antiretroviral therapy adherence and mental health comorbidities.

Prior to specialising in Mental Health/HIV care, David developed broad nursing experience across liaison psychiatry, clinical site management, emergency nursing, surgical care, Intensive Care, Neurosurgical ITU and renal medicine. His international nursing experience in the United States additionally encompasses neurology and haematology.
