Jennifer Brown is a Registered Adult Nurse with over 30 years of experience across cardiothoracic surgery, emergency care, acute medicine, workforce management and senior nursing leadership. She currently serves as Corporate Head of Nursing, where she provides strategic leadership for nursing workforce planning, clinical assurance and safe staffing whilst remaining clinically active within both acute hospital wards and specialist cardiothoracic services.


Jennifer combines strategic nursing leadership with contemporary clinical practice, maintaining her clinical competencies through regular ward-based work within cardiothoracic surgery services alongside her executive responsibilities.


Jennifer has extensive expertise in clinical governance, serious incident investigation, Root Cause Analysis, complaint investigation, workforce management and quality improvement. Throughout her senior leadership career she has investigated serious incidents, prepared RCA reports, responded to complex complaints and developed action plans to improve patient safety and organisational learning. She also undertakes independent external complaint reviews, disciplinary investigations and professional conduct cases, including matters relating to the Nursing and Midwifery Council.


Prior to her executive leadership roles, Jennifer spent many years working within specialist cardiothoracic surgery services as a Matron, Ward Manager and Senior Nurse, developing extensive clinical expertise in cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, transplant care and acute surgical nursing. She has also led major service developments, clinical audit programmes, policy development and CQC compliance initiatives across large acute NHS organisations
