Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I approach an expert?
All expert instructions should be made through Apex Experts. This allows us to complete conflict checks, ensure secure data handling, and provide full administrative and legal support throughout the process.
If you wish to instruct a specific expert from our panel, simply contact us with your case details and requirements. We will liaise with the expert on your behalf and coordinate availability, terms, and timelines, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from initial enquiry to report delivery.
Q. Is Apex Experts an Agency?
No - Apex Experts is not an agency. We are a medico-legal practice that works directly with expert witnesses under a consultancy model.
This means there are no agency fees, and all fees are transparent and agreed at the point of instruction. Our role is to support the expert and the instructing party throughout the process - from initial enquiry to report delivery - with full administrative and clinical oversight.
Q. What is an Expert Witness?
An expert witness is a qualified professional who provides independent, impartial opinion evidence to a court or tribunal on matters within their expertise.
At Apex Experts, our nurse expert witnesses are senior, practising clinicians registered with the NMC, who provide reports, statements and court testimony on the standard of nursing care in clinical negligence, coronial, or regulatory proceedings.
Q. What Timeframes Can I Expect?
Timeframes vary depending on the type of report required:
-
Full CPR-compliant reports typically take 6 to 8 weeks from the point of instruction.
-
Short-form or preliminary opinion reports are usually completed within 2 to 4 weeks.
If a faster turnaround is required, we can accommodate urgent instructions for an agreed expedited rate. All timeframes are confirmed at the point of instruction, and we aim to be as responsive as possible to the needs of each case.
Q. How Much Does a Report Cost?
Our fees vary depending the type of report required, the expert’s clinical specialism, and the overall complexity and duration of the case.
We understand the importance of balancing quality with affordability, which is why we always aim to keep costs reasonable and transparent for our clients. Fee estimates are provided when we confirm an expert’s suitability for a case, and we’re always happy to discuss tailored arrangements to suit the specific needs of each case.
Q. Does Apex Accept Deferred Payments?
We recognise that not all cases follow the same funding timelines.
That’s why we offer flexible deferred payment options, which can be tailored to the nature and duration of the case.
These arrangements are agreed in advance to ensure clarity from the outset.
