John McRobert is a Registered Adult Nurse and highly experienced Tissue Viability specialist with over 25 years of nursing experience and more than 15 years dedicated to wound care, pressure ulcer prevention and tissue viability practice. He currently works as a Tissue Viability Nurse Consultant leading specialist services for patients with complex wounds requiring advanced wound care interventions.
Throughout his career John has developed substantial expertise in pressure ulcer prevention and management, complex wound assessment, wound debridement, advanced wound therapies, negative pressure wound therapy, skin substitutes and tissue viability governance. His work regularly involves management of wounds that have failed to heal using conventional treatment approaches and require specialist intervention.
John has extensive experience in clinical governance, patient safety, pressure damage investigations, Serious Incident reviews, litigation support and Coroner investigations. During his NHS leadership roles he was responsible for Trust-wide tissue viability policies, pressure ulcer reduction programmes, Duty of Candour investigations and review of serious pressure damage incidents.
In addition to his clinical practice, John serves as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission for wound care services and teaches pressure damage prevention and complex wound management at university level. He is also a published author on tissue viability, wound healing and burns care.
