Natalie Sutton is a Registered Adult Nurse, Independent Nurse Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with over 17 years of experience across acute medicine, community services, mental health, clinical education and senior nursing leadership. She currently serves as Modern Matron for Physical Health within a busy NHS Foundation Trust, where she provides strategic leadership for physical healthcare delivery across inpatient mental health services.

 

Natalie's expertise encompasses physical healthcare in mental health settings, patient safety, clinical governance, incident investigation, Root Cause Analysis, complaints management, diabetes care, pressure ulcer prevention, NEWS2 implementation, sepsis recognition and clinical education. She acts as a subject matter expert for serious incidents, reviewing patient deaths, leading physical health investigations and presenting findings at patient safety panels to drive organisational learning and service improvement.
 

Alongside her governance responsibilities, Natalie has held senior operational leadership positions including Operational Manager, Quality Matron and Clinical Skills Coordinator. She has led trust-wide education programmes, implemented major quality improvement initiatives and supported multidisciplinary teams in delivering safe, evidence-based care across acute, community and mental health services.
 

Natalie has completed formal medico-legal training, including Bond Solon Expert Witness Report Writing and Medico-Legal Assistant Training, complementing her extensive governance and investigative experience.
