Toni Ayres is a Registered Adult Nurse with almost 20 years of nursing experience across intensive care, haematology, oncology, patient safety and complaints investigation. She currently practises as an ICU/HDU Staff Nurse, providing specialist care for critically ill adult patients requiring advanced organ support, ventilation and haemofiltration.
 

Toni has extensive expertise in haematology nursing, chemotherapy administration, blood transfusion, stem cell transplantation pathways, sickle cell disease management and nurse-led specialist clinics. During her career she has held senior clinical positions as both a Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Sickle Cell Clinical Nurse Specialist, independently assessing patients, coordinating complex treatment pathways, performing bone marrow aspirate and trephine procedures, organising apheresis services and supporting patients throughout cancer diagnosis and treatment.
 

Alongside her specialist clinical practice, Toni has significant experience in clinical governance and patient safety through her previous role as Complaints Investigator and PALS Team Manager. She led complex complaint investigations, quality assured investigation reports, identified serious incidents and safeguarding concerns, developed complaint policies and ensured organisational learning through action planning and service improvement.
 

Her combination of contemporary critical care practice, specialist cancer nursing and governance experience provides a broad and balanced perspective for medico-legal opinion across both acute and specialist healthcare services.
